In AA Files X, we have channelled the ethics of the collagist, remaining faithful to the original design of each text. Articles, which are accompanied by an insert of reflections by their contributors, are arranged to follow the proximity and contrast in themes and positions, occasionally interrupted by Nigel Coates’ explosions on which issue 75 ended.

Thirty-two pieces have been republished here in facsimile, spliced together to give a portrait of the magazine’s life, reflecting its seminal discoveries, thematic spectrum and formal explorations. Taken as one, they reveal the capacity of AA Files as a platform for a diverse range of contributors, from the established to the lesser known, for whom the journal became a debut.
